Sometimes I look around at the things going on and I realize why it is so hard to be inspired by anything or anyone. We live in a rather cynical world; people are stressed out, over-worked, and generally running to stand still. Companies are out for themselves at the expense of both their customers and their country…. The financial sectors are, well… just like the corporations. I mean, aside from maybe Tebow, what is there to inspire anyone to be a better person, better employee, better countryman?
It’s so depressing to think about things that way, but I think it’s necessary to point out because so many of us are exhausted and depleted of good energy. If you stop for a moment and look around, it’s easy to see why.
One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to find a way to be inspired. Find someone (Tebow? The Dali Lama?) or something (A worthy cause, faith, your dreams) and latch onto it. Use it to remind yourself why there’s a reason to keep working towards self-improvement. Remind yourself of why it’s worth doing the extra work instead of “sleep-walking” through your day.
Some of previous posts seemed of particular relevance to being and staying inspired to continually grow.
- Consider what is driving your life. Your values are a big part of why you get up and do what you do everyday, but are you behind the wheel, or are you letting others- even society as a whole- dictate the direction of your life?
- Sometimes inspiration can come into your life once you’ve slowed yourself down and found ways to simplify it.
- While you’re on the hunt for inspiration, consider your own life! Is it something that inspires you on a daily basis to attain more? If not, is it possible that you’re living your life according to values that may inspire others but not yourself?
- If you find that it takes very little to get you down, or strip your motivation, don’t feel alone. I think that we’re all so bogged down in our lives that it’s difficult to stay hopeful and inspired. Here’s a post to remind yourself why you should and can always have hope.
We aren’t perfect and we never will be. All of us, even those of us whose “hobby” is self-improvement and self-reflection get lost in the forest of chaos. It’s difficult to remain focused and inspired. We all stray from our path. The difference is whether or not we check our compass and get back on track.
